What is your role within Agilisys?
I work as a Consultant in Agilisys’ Business Change Practice.
Tell us about your team
My team is a small close-knit team with a great blend of experience, backgrounds and personality. We regularly organise social events, not only to blow off some steam after a long week, but also as a team-building exercise (e.g. playing netball with the client). Importantly, we have made sure that the new remote-working paradigm would not impact on our ability to socialise together. Since the lockdown, we have held fun virtual activities like poem contests, the AgiliStep challenge, virtual drinks, and quiz nights to name but a few… all outside of work hours of course!
How did you get to where you are now?
Agilisys is a place where you are recognised for taking initiative and putting yourself out there, even if it means going outside of your comfort zone. When there is an opportunity to do a big presentation in front of the client, take the initiative and step up to the challenge. When an opportunity opens up to work on a new project that might help advance your career development, don’t be a afraid to put yourself forward! By going above and beyond, it shows commitment and dedication towards the team and the wider Agilisys organisation.
What do you enjoy most about your job and working at Agilisys?
As cliché as it might sound, it is the people I work with that I find most enjoyable. Over the past year and a half in Agilisys, I have made great friends with people from all walks of life. Being based in client sites for months on end with people who you enjoy hanging out with both inside and out of work, makes your life that much easier.
What advice would you give to someone looking to start their career in consultancy?
To know exactly what you are getting yourself into, the best piece of advice I would give is to do thorough research of the industry. Consulting is synonymous with travel, so be prepared to be allocated to a project in Guernsey or somewhere in the highlands of Scotland at short notice.
