Joining up and integrating public services around citizen needs is a perennial challenge, not least because delivering better public services to citizens is a vast, complex conundrum involving many important aspects.
Arguably the most important of these, if you are to bring together multiple agencies (and departments within the same organisation) in a way that truly puts the citizens at the heart of decision making, is joined-up data. Yet, multiple barriers continue to hold back a consolidated approach to data sharing. That’s despite the COVID-19 pandemic shining a spotlight on some of the effective data sharing already taking place across the public sector, and removing some of the people-led barriers to sharing data that have hindered progress in the past.
