Agilisys named preferred partner for a 10-year technology partnership with the States of Guernsey
The States of Guernsey has appointed Agilisys, the leading UK cloud and digital transformation specialist to the public sector, as their preferred partner to deliver the Island’s Future Digital Services programme.
Agilisys’ appointment follows a comprehensive two year competitive procurement process, which saw leading global and UK technology providers bid for the opportunity to modernise the States’ IT services, enable a programme of ambitious Public Service Reform (PSR) and help develop the local economy.
Working together with local technology and infrastructure providers, Agilisys will deliver more resilient, stable and secure IT services, deploying a range of leading platforms and applications from global and specialist providers including Microsoft.
The transformation of IT services and the flexible working this will bring for States’ employees, will enable the Future Digital Services programme to underpin delivery of the States’ PSR agenda.
Harnessing new technology, platforms and systems, government departments will be able to deploy digital technology to unlock better customer experience, reduced operating cost and deliver better outcomes for islanders. The partnership with Agilisys will support the achievement of the States’ £26m PSR savings target.
As well as delivering cost savings and improved service outcomes, an exciting element of this new partnership is significant investment in the local digital sector. Agilisys, working alongside the States, has identified multiple initiatives through which it will deliver this commitment. Examples include:
- Launching the Guernsey Venture Catalyst Challenge to stimulate interest in business building and relocation on island
- Venture building services to further support Scale Up activity working closely with the Department of Economic Development & the Digital Greenhouse.
- Development of digital skills and digital understanding for all islanders
- A full Digital Apprenticeship pilot in partnership with Arch Apprentices
- Deployment of a digital learning and knowledge sharing platform
- Island promotion including the provision of a States of Guernsey Economic Development office within the Scale Space innovation hub on the new Imperial College London, White City campus.
- A Guernsey-based ‘cloud’ for system hosting and data storage, which could be made available to businesses, building on Guernsey’s unique selling point of being a safe and secure place to store data.
Paul Whitfield, Chief Executive at the States of Guernsey said “We are delighted to see Agilisys appointed as Preferred Bidder after an incredibly thorough tender process.
Digital transformation is essential if the States is to deliver its strategic goals. At present, the States does not have the capacity or capability to deliver the level of transformation planned or the ability to rapidly access the necessary expertise.
Agilisys’ experience will be critical in facilitating the States’ wider transformation ambitions by providing cutting edge technology solutions and improving States access to resource and expertise. This includes support for the Public Service Reform framework where a savings target of £26m for the States of Guernsey is set to be achieved by 2021.
As well as providing modern technological opportunities, the proposed model will also reduce operating costs over the course of the partnership term. Enhancements to day-to-day IT provision will also significantly increase the quality of service provided to internal users and the public as well as generating further efficiencies across the organisation.”
Andrew Mindenhall, Chief Executive at Agilisys added “We are delighted to be partnering with the States of Guernsey to modernise their IT Services, enable public service reform and to support growth in the local digital sector.
For more than 20 years we have delivered complex and critical strategic transformation and digital technology services, pioneering new technologies, products and services that have resulted in improvements in cost effectiveness, productivity and innovation across the public sector. Wherever we work we always seek to support the local economy, be that through skills development such as our Cloud development programme, the thousands of digital apprenticeships we have created or support for digital start-ups that have gone on to become sector leaders.
Realising the States of Guernsey’s vision for Future Digital Services is of huge importance to Guernsey’s vibrant, close-knit community and economy. We look forward to working with the States to deliver improved service outcomes and economic development opportunities, which have a positive impact on the whole Island community.”
